Memorial Beads
Memorial beads are a wonderful compliment to traditional urns and can be a cherished keepsake for survivors of those that wish to have their remains dispersed in a special place.
Multiple matching bead sets can be made and strung on leather cording for multiple family members, friends or teammates.
Beads can be made into pendants and strung on silver chains or used to create key chains, pens, letter openers, wine stoppers and more...
Memorial beads can be made to honor your loved one in a variety of ways.. Round, lentil and bicone shape beads can be made from a rainbow of colors. Additionally fine Italian silver, gold or palladium can be added. Sculptural beads are also available and I am happy to create a specific shape such as a heart, fish, ball, bird, food item or many many other personalized items. I am more than happy to create any bead that will represent your loved one.....
THE PROCESS~
Glass memorial beads are handcrafted one at a time using molten glass that begin as colored rods. The rods are slowly melted with the flame of a torch ran from a oxygen and propane mix. The molten glass is than wound around a mandrel which is a thin, stainless steel rod. Each memorial bead is then gently rolled in remains and encased in crystal clear. A variety of small colorful pieces of glass or precious metals are sometimes added to give each bead the unique look desired.
Once the bead has been formed to it's desired shape, it is placed inside a kiln at about 960 degrees. The annealing cycle then begins, allowing the bead to properly "soak" and cool preventing cracks and insuring a bead that will provide loved ones and survivors with a keepsake that will be cherished for generations to come.
Memorial beads are made with the utmost respect and I ensure the proper handling of all remains. I am happy to say a special prayer or even play a specific piece of music while creating your memorial beads. After colors and designs have been chosen, I will send a small container for you to fill and send back.
